VIP Home: Talk Safari to Me

IMG_9683

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Ever since I was little, I have had a large love for the zoo and safari. I would beg to go to the zoo all of the time (even up into my teen years when my family and I were living in Birmingham), and I often dreamed of becoming an apprentice to Steve Irwin in Australia. *bless his sweet soul* My eyes were constantly glued to Zoboomafoo, The Crocodile Hunter, and a variety of other television shows of that nature. Just to put my obsession of “safari” into perspective….take a look at my safari themed, childhood bedroom here *wink*

As I grew older, I learned about Ernest Hemingway’s hobbies, writings, and home in the Florida Keys and fell madly in love with safari all over again. *NOTE: I have put it on my bucket list to visit Hemingway’s home (as well as  Mark Twain’s, of course *wink*) So, taking inspiration from one of my childhood loves and the brilliant Hemingway–I have created a fabulous safari-themed living space for this week’s VIP Home.

Stay tuned the rest of the week on VIP for some awesome safari-inspired makeup and ensembles *wink*

Safari Room

If I were to follow this design in my home, I would opt for darker walls. Personally, I am a fan of rich hued walls in living spaces; however, for showcasing the elements of this design, the light slate gray was a fresher option. *Note: My dream living room walls will be either a deep midnight blue or dark navy blue because I am obsessed with dark shades of blue*wink**

I am just going to assume this is supposed to be a statue of a Dodo bird.... *slowly backs away* Oh, check out that ensemble too, y'all *wink*

VIP Home: George’s Writing Nook Inspiration

IMG_0085

Hi, my name is George. I am Abby’s typewriter.

We have been together since Christmas, and we have already typed through lots of my ribbon. Although our relationship is swell, my writing nook is not-so-swell. It is currently yellow, which I do not mind; however, it is cramped and dysfunctional and not inspiring. I feel like my nook should have more of an Ernest Hemingway or Mark Twain vibe, but I am unsure of how to tell Abby that she needs to get started with a decor change. So, I have found a few inspirational videos and snooped on Sweet Sorghum Living–what she calls a “sister blog”–to find some content for her to get my nook all fixed up. *fingers crossed* I need her inspired and motivated to make a change *cue Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror*

So...much...dysfunction. George does not like.

One positive step towards my nook becoming something inspiring. Abby picked up this awesome stool at an old dinner theatre in downtown Johnson City that was closing.
