"Inspired by All Things Vintage"

Tag Archives: InStyle

The end of October is almost here, and y’all know what that means…InStyle Inspiration!  What is InStyle Inspiration, you ask? Well, it is where I, the VIP, take the latest issue of InStyle Magazine and create outfits from the articles that caught my eye! Let’s get started, shall we?

When my October issue of InStyle arrived in the mail, I immediately started to peruse the pages! The first article to catch my fashionista eye was “Find Your Perfect Silky-Button Front”. InStyle showed a variety of flowy blouses that fit the characteristics of many of the tops in my wardrobe! I skipped off to my closet and picked out a darling burgundy and tan button front.  After reading the article “Designer Focus”, where InStyle said, “No matter what size you are, nothing defines your figure like a well-cut pencil skirt…”, I remembered that I owned the most flattering denim pencil skirt…I just had to find it…When I discovered it hidden in the back of the closet, I looked at it with a sassy smirk; I knew that it would pair marvelously with my silky top!

Hello, lovers of fashion! It is the end of September, and we all know what that means…InStyle Inspiration! Whoo Hoo!

Dress: Deep South Pout
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
*photo featured on “Pigskin Go Team Ready” blog.*

The first article to catch the VIP’s eye was “Color Crash Course: Burgundy”! InStyle suggested wearing burgundy classics with sky blue, forest green, peony pink, or peach apparel or accessories. As I read through the article, I had a fantastic flashback to my blog post “Pigskin Go Team Ready”. On that particular blog, I wore a chic burgundy, high-low dress paired with simple pearl accessories and white wedges.

According to InStyle, “Suits are a return to the most foolproof way of taking care of business.”  This article created another flashback fashion moment for me, and it also helped me to put together an amazing suit pant outfit!

Travel back in time with me to the 11th Annual Tennessee Williams’ Tribute “Of Roses” poetry reading where I wore a fabulous suit accessorized with a dazzling 1940′s hat.

Blazer: The Limited
Top: The Attic
Skirt: The Limited
Belt: Target
Shoes: Kenzie Girl
Hat: The Attic
Gloves: Fantabulous Formals (Louisville, Mississippi: Rhonda Prisock-owner)

The marvelous suit pant ensemble expresses every woman’s attitude of getting stuff done! I slipped into my gray suit pants and blazer along with a sleek black tank and a 1940′s statement hat for a throwback look that was absolutely stunning!

Blazer: The Limited
Pants: The Limited
Shoes: BCBG
Hat: The Attic

Hello again, my beautiful readers! Do you know what time it is?  INSTYLE INSPIRATION time! Whoo Hoo! The excitement ( I’m so excited, and I just hide it and i don’t know the rest of the words to this song la la la la…but I think I like it…) oh yes, the excitement is spreading rapidly through my fashionista veins so I must share with you my inspiration from the August issue of InStyle magazine!

Blazer: Urban Outfitters
Top: The Limited
Shorts: JCrew
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Necklace: Avon

As I flipped through the pages of the August issue, I ran across a FABULOUS article called “Colored Blazer”…I shouted, ”Colored Blazer! I have the perfect colored blazer-in blue-quite similar to the one shown!…Mom, where is my blue blazer I just got from Urban Outfitters…no, I haven’t looked for it…”  I am proud to announce that I found my blue blazer all by myself…shiny gold star sticker!

InStyle showed two different ways you could spice up your wardrobe with a “lucious hue”  blazer! (InStyle, August 2012, pg. 110)  I dedcided to pair mine with shorts for a classy look that would keep me cool during the dog days of summer.

I always make sure to read the “Color Crash Course” articles in every issue! This month, “Color Crash Course Jade” opened so many doors for my newly thrifted, vintage, highwaisted Wrangler jade hue jeans! InStyle says, “Jade plays well with navy, chalk, eggplant, and teal.” There are so many possibilities with all things Jade…and I challenge you to create your own fabulous outfits and email, tweet, or facebook me with your eye-catching ensembles! (InStyle August 2012, page 103-104)

The “Shop It!” section this month says, “Think outside the ordinary. Shop a spectrum of skinny belts.” Well…I have numerous skinny belts that can be paired easily with many different VIP ensembles! Every good fashionista needs skinny belts in a variety of styles and colors! So beg your deddy (Deddy, not daddy. Deddy is the VIP’s Southern slang coming out;)) for a little cash and splurge a little on new accessories for fall! (InStyle August 2012, page 206)

So pick yourself up the September issue of InStyle (available now) to see what will inspire you!  The “Fall Fashion” edition with stunning Jennifer Lopez on the cover is so AMAZING!   Join me next month for another fantabulous blog about what I found inspiring from the September absolutely fashion-packed issue of  InStyle mag.!

Hello again readers and welcome to the InStyle Inspiration: July 2012 blog! This month, I have two FABULOUS outfits to share with y’all based off of the marvelous things I was inspired by in the July issue of InStyle!

The first article to catch this fashionista’s eye was “Find Your Perfect Denim Cutoffs”…immediately, I recalled my blog VIP DIY: Dip Dye Shorts, and I just knew my DIY shorts were my perfect denim cutoffs with a sassy VIP attitude:)

Lace Blazer: The Attic (1979 Lace Blazer)
Tank Top: Urban Outfitters
Shorts: VIP DIY
Belt: JCrew
Shoes: Material Girl by Madonna

The beginnings of my next outfit started when I saw the article about “peacock shadow”…I knew when I saw it in the Beauty section that I would be glamorizing my eyes with a fresh and daring peacock eyeliner from Lancome!

Building off of the 1980s rebellious blue eye makeup, I decided that I just had to go all out, and that was when I ran across the “Your Look Q&A” article! Someone asked, “I need a break from cardigans. What’s another lightweight layering piece?” and InStyle suggested a light weight cotton blazer…luckily, I had just purchased a turquoise blue blazer similar to the one pictured! So, I skipped off to my closet, grabbed my 80s throwback pants from Deep South Pout, and paired them with a fun floral v-neck shirt and the bright blue blazer (that just screams 1980-in a good way!)! This next outfit is actually on the back of my new business cards:)

Top: Urban Outfitters
Blazer: Urban Outfitters
Pants: Deep South Pout

This bright blue blazer makes me feel so cute and sophisticated when paired with these fabulous Steve Madden pumps…I have an obsession with super high heels…or so my deddy says;)

Well, there you have it, my lovelies! The VIP’s InStyle Inspiration: July 2012 outfits! Since InStyle is quite possibly my top favorite fashion and beauty magazine, I encourage you to pick yourself up a copy of the August issue and start getting inspired! Then, take a quick selfie in your mini-VIP InStyle Inspiration: August outfit and email or post it to my Facebook page to be included in a future blog:)

I spy InStyle Inspiration: June 2012

Hello, my FABULOUS readers! I have two super cute outfits that I based off of things that inspired me from the latest edition of InStyle, and I am so excited to share them with y’all.

One of the pages that inspired me this month…

The detail and color of the blue dress shown in the picture above reminded me of a dress that I had stuffed in the back of my closet…I decided that it must be brought out and combined with a summery, straw hat and fun, white Jessica Simpson heels! I cannot wait to wear this outfit out on the town!

Hat: Blu Gertude (Deep South Pout of Columbus, MS)
Dress: Fashion Barn (Columbus, Mississippi)
Shoes: Jessica Simpson (Belk)
Sunglasses: Target (Trussville, Alabama)

I love magazines like InStyle and Vogue because they get my mind going about how to create my own “Inspiration Outfits” with things I already have, Thrift Store Finds, or new purchases from local shops.

I took inspiration (yes, this blog post has the word “inspiration” in it a lot…because I am the Vintage INSPIRED Passionista…haha;)) from Instyle magazine’s “Summer Steals!” and “Mens-Wear Hat” pages.

Hat: Charming Charlie (Birmingham, Alabama)
Dress: Deep South Pout (Starkville, Mississippi)
Shoes: Jessica Simpson (Of course…;))

This summer, I am all about hats! Cute, floppy hats with my bikini and coverup, a mens-wear hat with a funky dress, or a bright, fun straw hat with a colorful dress..The VIP loves hats….

Don’t you just love InStyle Magazine??? Oh, I do…I love it almost as much as I love Jessica Simpson shoes…

Go pick up the next issue of InStyle magazine, and find ideas to make your own spectacular outfits! If you have an outfit inspired by magazines that you would like to share…give me a shout out! I would love to feature them in an upcoming blog! So don’t be shy! Get to emailing me your inspiration outfit pictures:)
