To help celebrate the two year anniversary of VIP, I decided to follow up with one of my favorite handmade jewelry artisans. She was also THE VERY FIRST person I interviewed, and today is throwback Thursday…soooo… *drum roll* Lisa Hamilton of Beadsoul! Yay!
I absolutely love Beadsoul jewelry because Lisa creates fabulously personalized pieces. To be perfectly honest, I adore everything in her Etsy shop. My goodness! She is always coming up with new designs. Okay–enough of me telling you about how awesome Beadsoul is…let’s catch up with her and see what has been happening since the last time the VIP chatted with her. Now, without further ado, I present to you the VIP’s follow-up interview with Jewelry Artisan Lisa Hamilton of Beadsoul.
VIP: What’s new with Beadsoul?
Beadsoul: What’s new? Hmmm…Lemme see–the boho cuffs (the ones with sari silk and leather), new leather colors and styles are coming, the Floating lockets, more design stamps for fun, personalized stuff; and I know there is more, but I can’t remember! I am always looking to add new things! As far as new techniques go, I am learning/perfecting right enameling and metal clay. I hope to have some fun, OOAK [one-of-a-kind] charms made with the metal clay to go in the lockets, and I am excited to work with some fun colors with the enameling. Also, I just got a kiln and can’t wait to put it to use.
VIP: Are you working on any new projects?
Beadsoul: Sewing! I just got all set up to start sewing again with a sweet new machine and a worktable. Now I just have to do it! It’s been ages.
VIP: What is your 2014 inspiration?
Beadsoul: The love that I see/feel from family, friends; the beautiful people that God has put in my life. I am also inspired by the fact that there are lots of trends, but anything goes. I have learned to make things that I love and most of the time, others have loved the things too!
VIP: What is your 2014 motto?
Beadsoul: “You can!” which is what I just wrote on a little chalkboard on my wall. I was one of those “I can’t people” for many years, and sometimes that tape will play in my head. “YOU CAN” just helps me see that one way or another I can do a lot of things that I never thought possible. I just need to try!
VIP: What color best describes you?
Beadsoul: Oh, man, color? Hm….I guess blue. It’s calming and quiet at times, but it can be bold and even a little brash too.
VIP: What is your favorite song of 2014 thus far?
Beadsoul: So far, I am loving The Best Day of My Life by The American Authors. The nonsense lyrics don’t mean much, but hey, if I wake up with that chorus, This is gonna be the best day of my life, it is a pretty good day!
