Black and White Town Blurs
Inspired by Black and White Town by Doves
It’s Wednesday, and y’all know what that means–WEEKLY WHISTLE TIME! Woo hoo!
Since we are all about dressing up the basics this week on VIP, I decided to jazz-up a plain-old pair of blue jeans and a white t-shirt because who said a t-shirt and jeans have to be ordinary and boring *wink*
The big inspiration for this week’s outfit of the week is a song by Gaslight Anthem called “Blue Jeans and White T-Shirts”. When I stumbled upon the song, I immediately fell in love with it! The rhythm, the lyrics, the title…it is all amazing, amazing, AHmazing! If I ever produce a movie (a girl can dream, right?),”Blue Jeans and White T-Shirts” will definitely be on the soundtrack because it is just that good. Click play on the video below and then check out the awesome photographs from this week’s Weekly Whistle shoot! Enjoy :)
(Below lyrics from “Blue Jeans and White T-Shirts by Gaslight Anthem)
We are the boys from Little Eden
We are the heart of Saturday night
We drink from the fountains off the fireworks
Sweat and bone for a better life
We like our choruses sung together
We like our arms in our brothers’ arms
Call every girl we ever met Maria
But I only love Virginia’s heart
Still we sing with our heroes, 33 rounds per minute
We’re never going home until the sun says we’re finished
I’ll love you forever if I ever love at all
Wild hearts, blue jeans, & white t-shirts
Some things baby never told you
Some things papa done ain’t right
Spent a lifetime just to get over
You always said my mama tried
Still we sing with our heroes, 33 rounds per minute
We’re never going home until the sun says we’re finished
I’ll love you forever if I ever love at all
With wild hearts, blue jeans, & white t-shirts
So tonight I’ll call you from a 4th Street payphone
We’ll sleep on the beach if we ain’t got a ride
Someday I’ll buy you that house on Cookman
We could sleep on the beach all night
Sleep on the beach if we ain’t got a ride
Sleep on the beach all night
Sleep on the beach all night
Sleep on the beach if we ain’t got a ride

After I published “Broken Bicycles” yesterday, I could not help but reminisce about some of my favorite artistic photo blogs….Want to Buy 97 Farms, Dirt Road Prayer, Got A Gun, and many more! While flashing back, I also discovered that there were a few pictures that did not make it to the blog…so I am going to share those with y’all TODAY on #ThrowbackThursday! Yep, that’s right…never-before-seen photos from some of the VIP’s most famous artistic photo shoots. *wink*
Now, y’all take a look at the following photos while I load another episode of The X-Files on Netflix *wink*
Broken bicycles
Old busted chains
With rusted handle bars
Out in the rain
Somebody must
Have an orphanage for
All these things that nobody
Wants anymore
September’s reminding July
It’s time to be saying good-bye
Summer is gone
Our love will remain
Like old broken bicycles
Out in the rain
Broken bicycles
Don’t tell my folks
There’s all those playing cards
Pinned to the spokes
Laid down like skeletons
Out on the lawn
The wheels won’t turn
When the other has gone
The seasons can turn on a dime
Somehow, I forget every time
For all the things that you’ve given me
Will always stay…
Broken, but I’ll never throw them away
Memorial Day is not just a day for barbecuing and beach tripping…It is a day for remembering our lost soldiers…It is a day for praising our lost soldiers for their bravery to fight…and to die for America. As President Ronald Reagan once said, “I don’t have to tell you how fragile this precious gift of freedom is. Every time we hear, watch, or read the news, we are reminded that liberty is a rare commodity in this world.”
Now, without further ado, please enjoy this artistic photo story + quotes.
Please leave your feedback in the comments box at the end of this blog. Thank you, God bless, and stay safe this Memorial Day!
