One thing that separates the 2014 home show from ALL of the rest was the Log and Timber Home Show, which was a BRAND NEW addition where guests could tour log cabins that were built right inside the convention center. Log cabins in downtown Birmingham….Talk about cool, huh?! *wink* Log and timber frame designers, manufacturers, and builders from all over the U.S. and Canada showcased their unique products and services + exhibitors had unique furnishing and decor for the cabin on display. The Log and Timber Home Show reminded me very much of when I visited Blowing Rock, North Carolina…oh, I would just love to go and stay in that cabin again :)

See here.), Avondale Brewing (another Magic City fav! See here.), Blue Pants Brewery, Straight to Ale Brewery, Salty Nuts Brewery, Lagunitas Brewing, Arbita Brewery, and Oskar Blues Brewery.

EF4 Tornado Strikes Louisville, Mississippi (My Hometown)

BmZ21zVCUAIoo1O

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog.

I apologize for the delay of normal posts–it has been a very hectic and stressful two days. I was visiting family in my hometown on Monday, April 28 when the devastating storm hit Louisville, Mississippi hard…very hard. An EF4  tornado ripped through my little hometown leaving behind piles of sticks, mangled rubble, and slabs where houses used to be…it was a destruction in the likes of which I have never seen…and hope to never witness again.

Driving into town today was very emotional–seeing the place where I grew up in shambles was heartbreaking. When I topped the hill and witnessed the first of the damage in the Louisville Country Club/South Church Street area…I cried–squalled like a little baby. All of this is difficult for me to talk about because I have not had time to fully process everything…but what I can tell you is that when I said, “It is good to see you today”…it was truly good to see you today.

Due to limited internet and cell service here, I will keep this blog brief. So, here are a few photos from the damage in town today–to see more photos and updates, please visit my social media below.

Coming into town today, I spotted the Louisville City Limits sign twisted from the tornado, snapped a photo, and tweeted it to The Weather Channel. Thank you, Jim Cantore, for your kind words and support as Louisville, Mississippi recovers from this tragedy.

Donations at the First Baptist Church in Louisville were magnificent. It was so great seeing the community working together to help those affected.

I missed the Birmingham, Alabama Snowpocalypse

unnamed (4)

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

My goodness! I am so happy to be back home in Birmingham with my Charter high-speed internet and a Starbucks that is 2.1 miles from my house; however, spending time in my hometown was nice–spending time with old friends and family, revisiting some of my favorite photo shoot spots, and taking walks in the pasture listening to the calm silence that exists in the middle of nowhere…

Now, enjoy some photos from our adventure! Please note that my mom is quite possibly the worst iPhone photographer ever *wink*

After two days of being in Louisville, we were finally given the “clear” to head back to Birmingham. Roads were still a bit icy in patches, but God blessed us so greatly because we could have been stranded on the side of the road rather than stranded in the hometown :)

There was still a bit of snow to enjoy once we got back to Birmingham:)

Acting Workshop with Professional Actor/Director Kevin Wayne

photo 3 (1)

Hello, fabulouses!

I had such a wonderful time at Kevin Wayne’s Acting Workshop today at the Shelby County Arts Council in Alabama.

It was so much fun learning about the show and business aspects of “showbiz” from someone in the industry. At the beginning of the workshop…I was nervous…super nervous–I am not gonna lie *wink*, but by the end of the workshop, I felt more relaxed and confident . Now, I have my notes on the things that need improvement and some sides, which are portions of scripts (primarily used for auditions), to practice with at home.  How do you like how I threw some of my new “acting lingo” in there *wink*

VIP Review:

I give Kevin Wayne’s acting workshop 5 stars and two thumbs up!

After having lunch at The General Store, the VIP team stopped at The Lollipop Shop for dessert. It was such a super cute store with lots of candy options. Note: Leave it to my deddy to act ridiculous in every picture *wink*...but I must admit this was too funny! haha
