VIP Home: I Am a Messy Painter and Organizer

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Over the weekend, I completed my major paint projects–my kitchen and bathroom…Ah, It  feels good to see the rooms coated with bright and happy colors rather than dark and gloomy ones. Oh, wait! I still have to paint my front porch floor. *NOTE TO SELF* Paint porch floor.

Tah dah! I lovely yellow kitchen!

I am a messy painter. I am not going to deny it. During the kitchen painting process, I ended up with paint in my hair, all over my hands and legs, and even ruined a perfectly white t-shirt…to be honest, I am not quite sure how it all happened…one moment, I am clean–and the next…I am covered in paint like a five year old. Perhaps, I should not  paint anymore…Nope, that would not be a good idea or fun because I still have paint projects left to do. Hmmmm…I know–I will invest in a cute artist smock! Besides, my mom always says it is good to get a little dirty–in a good way, of course*wink*

Now that both the kitchen and bathroom are painted, it is time to start organizing the small spaces–but the problem is I am also a messy organizer. Wait…is it even possible to be messy and organized at the same time? Oh, goodness…I don’t know! That’s why I called in the professional–my mom. She is excellent at cleaning, organizing, and designing spaces to be cute and fun, yet functional and organized. So, today, Mom and I took a little trip to TJMaxx and Target where we spent several hours debating about my specific organizational needs, how to make the spaces functional while sticking to a budget, and…we shopped for a few other random things *wink*

Hm....I wonder what's in the bags? Stay tuned to the blog to find out *wink* P.S. What do y'all think of my precious floor rug for outside? I think it is too precious!

P.S. What do y’all think of my darling outdoor rug?

On our shopping trip, we found some spectacular things that are sure to brighten up the space and brighten up my sleepy self as I get dressed in the mornings–I will spare you the horror story of when I accidentally dropped my mascara in the toilet due to my lack of organization in the apartment bathroom. Long story short, mom came to the rescue…and the spaces will begin to look even more functionally fabulous! Thanks, mom, for putting up with my nonsense and helping me out today! I truly appreciate it:)

Working on inspirational and fun quote artwork to attach to the clip boards in the kitchen. So far, I have three completed :)

Throwback Thursday to the Days When I Paid With Hugs

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Today, I have been priming and painting my kitchen all day…and at some point, I took a break to eat some mac n’ cheese and chocolate pudding for lunch–no, it was not the most nutritional choice…but it did bring back some great childhood memories. Ah…I miss the days when eating an entire bag of gummy bears was justifiable because being a little chubby was cute and adorable*wink*

I was a chubby kid…I was girly with a touch of tomboyishness–I enjoyed dance class and playing dress up in my mom’s closet as well as running around “barefooted” in my grandparents’ pasture, making mud pies after a big rain, and going bream fishing with Paw Riley. Oh, all of this recollecting makes me miss the days when life lacked major responsibilities….major responsibilities like car insurance, monthly rent, utility bills, and college fees. Whatever happened to paying for everything with hugs? *wink*

Oh, It seems like just yesterday when I graduated from kindergarten…when I actually just graduated from high school. *deep breath* I do not know who is handling my growing up worse–my parents or me *wink*

Do not get me wrong–I am not complaining about growing up…I have to admit that I am digging this apartment living thing; however, I am not digging the bills that come with it. Now, before my mom calls me telling me that bills are a part of life because she is all about life lessons–I must say that I know bills are a part of life…they are just a part of life that stinks…a part of life where you have to decide on buying a new pair of shoes or paying rent. *wink* No, I am not going to shop myself into debt like Carrie did on that episode of Sex In the City…but a pair of Jimmy Choo stilettos would be nice *wink*

I digress. So, where was I? Hm…that is a good question. To be frank (I guess it would be better to be myself *wink*), I do not remember what my exact intentions were for this blog post anymore…perhaps the paint fumes have finally gotten to me…or perhaps I am lacking important nutrition…nope…it cannot be either of those because I am painting with environmentally friendly paint, and I took my Flintstones vitamins this morning *wink*

Well… it looks like the second coat of paint in my kitchen is dry, which means it is time to paint on a third. Man…I am definitely regretting my decision to paint the kitchen yellow. Please don’t tell my dad that I am complaining about painting with yellow paint because he warned me how difficult it would be…I can hear him now, “I told you painting with yellow wasn’t going to be easy.” Yes, he was right…but this yellow is totally fabulous–so fabulous that I will forget all about the cramp in my right hand…and I will not forget to reveal this yellow beauty to y’all on VIP Home.

Stay tuned to VIP Home next week for photos of my apartment beautification process! I cannot wait to reveal the awesomeness! :)

VIP Home: Making Progress and Living in Chaos

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Guess what?! I am typing this blog from my new office space–which is a typical closet that I converted into a bright and cheery work space. This project was quite easy–all it took was a little money and design planning.

With the help of my dad, I just finished installing the basic counter top (turned desk top) from Home Depot about an hour ago. Oh…I am so happy to finally have a little blogging space in my apartment. Ah…apartment sweet apartment *wink*

The office is fully functioning–minus a desk chair (I have my eye on a fabulous one at Stein Mart); however, I have yet to adorn the space with cute decor. Note to self: Style office space and share with VIP readers *wink*

The dad and I installing the wire shelving in the blogging space. (Please excuse the fact I am wearing clothes that are wayyy to big for me...I look a bit frumpy...well, more like a lot frumpy. *cringe*)

After battling the rain and the cold…I finally had a pretty day to finish the front door. Yay! I am absolutely in love with the finished product of this paint project! The Peacock Feather by Behr (Home Depot’s paint department is fabulous!) really adds a pop of needed personality to the neutral space.

My next outside paint project is deciding what color to paint the porch floor. Decisions...decisions...decisions...
Now, I have to decide what color to paint the porch floor. Decisions…decisions…decisions…Stay tuned to the VIP social media and VIP Home to find out what color I picked.

Although I am making progress, I am still living in chaos, which can be bit frustrating at times.

I am really not giving the chaos enough credit because it is teaching me how to be more responsible with managing a budget…how to work under pressure (which I am not very good at doing *wink*)…and how to make my own “big girl” decisions. Phew…I am all about learning new life lessons, but I am extremely ready to tidy things up and keep them that way :)

Y’all be sure to come back next week to see more design progress on the VIP’s apartment! Whoo hoo!
