Beauty Tues: The Power of Minimum Makeup in 5 Easy Steps

Everywhere I look–fashion magazines, blogs, YouTube stars, strangers on the street–I see so many women making makeup way more complicated and difficult than it needs to be. If you remember, we chatted about this not to long ago on Beauty Tues.

There are two extremes–you have those who love makeup and do cool, multi-step looks everyday, and you have those who hate makeup and don’t wear any because they are convinced it’s too hard, or they were never taught the basics. And somewhere between those two extremes are people like me who like stately makeup at times, but 95% of the time–we like it simple and natural. Personally, I like to enhance my natural beauty with makeup–not hide it or change my face.

So, for this week’s VIP Beauty Tues, I want to talk about the power of minimal makeup. The step-by-step look on this blog is my everyday routine (minus when I have to be on or in front of the camera) which is super quick and stress free. If you’re new to makeup, this look is also for you! On a scale from “child’s play-makeup kit” to “YouTube makeup video”…this look is totally easy and child’s play *wink* So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the power of minimum makeup because, “Maybe it’s not Maybelline. Maybe you were just born with it.” (Mandy Hale)

What I Use:

Now…let’s step right to it! Hit it DJ *wink*

Step 1:

After applying foundation and powder (if you wear these products), apply a light dusting of pale pink or nude shadow to the entire lid. For an added lift, extend the shadow to the browline.

Step 2:

Next, take a white or nude eyeliner and fill on the bottom waterline of both eyes. This will make your eyes look wide open without having to add a dark liner to the top lid, which saves time and stress!

Step 3:

Simply add some volume to your lashes with a light application of mascara. Depending on your lash-type, you might also want to use an eyelash curler.

Step 4:

Add a little brightness to your undereye with undereye concealer. I truly love the Guerlain Precious Light because it’s a creamy (not oily) product that magically hides my dark circles and makes me look wide awake–no matter how many hours of sleep I get *wink*

Step 5:

The last step is to pucker up and put on a fabulous pinky-nude lipstick + lipbalm. Adding a moisturizing lip balm on top of your lipstick will create a great barrier to lock in moisture, and it will also lengthen the life of your lipstick (leaving you with fewer times to reapply).
