There is nothing worse than trying to style an outfit around a rainy day–much less a rainy day with mixed temperatures *wink* So, to help you survive rainy, autumn days this year, I have put together some fabulous style inspiration boards to get you started! Whether you like dressing it up or playing it simple, you’re sure to love these ensembles :)
It has been snowing like the dickens here all day, and of course, the VIP team created fabulous (and maybe a smidgen crazy) photo shoots *wink*
Taking a bit of inspiration from my old stomping grounds, I dressed as if I were going to a mid-spring brunch with some other Southern Belles. The juxtaposition of warm-weather clothes and cold-weather conditions made for some fun photos that have me VERY ready for spring and summer *wink*
Now, while I go warm up for some neighborhood sledding later, y’all take a look at these chilly and bright photos! Stay tuned for more from today’s photo shoot :)
Thanks, Winter Storm Octavia, for the fluffy snow. This Southern Belle has enjoyed it :)
Dress: Three07 | Hat: World Market | Heels: Jessica Simpson | Bracelet: Luke & Lyla Designs
Two of my favorite mid-fall things to wear here in the South are socks and shorts. When it’s too hot for pants, but too cold for just shorts–I break out my fancy socks and chino shorts to create sassy and fall-inspired ensembles.
So, for this week’s Weekly Whistle, I decided to sock it to y’all…see what I did there *wink* I went a bit simple with the main components (shorts, blouse, shoes) because the socks are so stately. To make this outfit more fall-ish, I stuck to warm hues and dressed up the light-colored blouse with bronze-toned accessories.
Now, let’s take a look at the fabulous photos + outfit details! I bet y’all cannot guess where I picked up these expensive looking socks for a lovely deal *wink*
Blouse: Forever 21
Shorts: J.Crew
Socks: Target
Heels: vintage (bought at a local antique mall in Johnson City, TN)
Necklaces: Avon
BLOOPER: The face you make when a squirrel almost falls on your head from the tree limb above you. What a lovely way to start the morning, right? *wink* That very much makes me think about John Caparulo’s skit about getting bit by a swan on the way to work. HAHA! Ah! If you have not seen it, check out the video below: (Note: the video should start exactly in the skit where he is talking about getting bit by a swan *wink*)
On my last trip home to Mississippi, I visited my two great-aunts, Jo and Judy. While at their homes in Kosciusko, we sorted through old family pictures, told crazy stories from the past, and even went through some of their vintage fashions. Aunt Judy gave me the lovely pair of vintage gold hoop earrings featured on this blog post, and Aunt Jo gave me the awesome Aztec-print wrap-skirt. I am assuming the wrap-skirt is from the late 70s, early 80s because of the pattern and sizing; however, who knows! I asked Aunt Jo from which era it was, but you know us Southern women…we do not tell our age or anything that might hint at our actual age. *wink*
Oh, how I miss my fashionably awesome great aunts and Mississippi! So, since I cannot sing (nor does anyone want to hear me try), I am dedicating this week’s Fabulous Friday to my great-aunts, Jo and Judy. Note: I will be going to Walgreens later to print them off these pictures…they do not have the internet; however, Aunt Judy is very skillful with blowing up old photos on her scan-in printer *wink*
Now, without further ado, let’s take a look at the outfit details + fab photos.
Whoop! Whoop! It is that time of the week again–Weekly Whistle time!
For this week’s WW, I decided to break out my favorite pair of Chip & Pepper jeans to create an oh-so-blue ensemble that is anything but sad *wink* Casual and comfy + cute and classy = the VIP’s favorite :) Also, that lipstick sure does look familiar…Oh! Yes–it was on yesterday’s Beauty Tues, that’s right *wink*
