To agree with the words of Emma Bunton, “I don’t think I will ever get tired of wearing pink.” *wink*
Oh, pink is just one of those pretty and powerful colors that can make you feel like a real #GirlBoss when walking into the office. Its elegant yet sassy hue works great no matter the day and no matter the hour. So, for this week’s Weekly Whistle, I decided to deck myself out in pretty pink!
ALSO…if you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw the #VIPMixItMonday that was also all-pink-inspired. If you missed it, no need to fear, check it out right here + be sure to follow me for daily fashion fun and peeks inside my life!
ANYWAY…that’s enough chat about social media *wink* Let’s get back to this professionally pink Weekly Whistle ensemble! Check out the photos + outfit details below and enjoy :)
p.s. These lovely photos were taken in one of my favorite historical towns, Jonesborough, Tennessee #OnlyInJonesborough
Lately, I have been listening to A LOT of 80s music–Genesis, ZZ Top, Bryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Joan Jett and the list goes on and on. So, naturally, I have been in like a totally rad, neon pink, acid wash and Miami Vice mood *said in my best Valley Girl voice*
When the winter storm hit last week and dumped about 9 inches of snow, my photographer and I took the opportunity to take some awesome outfit photos for the blog. As I was pulling items for the photoshoot, I stumbled upon a pair of funky fine (vintage) Levi’s *cue ZZ Top’s Cheap Sunglasses* that I had TOTALLY forgotten about.
In my 80s state of mind, I embraced the crazy, yellow acid-wash denim and decided to create a wearable wildcard outfit for this week’s Weekly Whistle. In the word’s of my photographer, “Wow…well, Abby–it sure it bright.” *wink*
Now, without further ado, get your 80s groove thang on and check out this week’s Weekly Whistle + outfit details! Also, be sure to pay special, close attention to the fabulous handmade bracelets!
Long before I became “the VIP”, I was pulling items from my closet and styling pieces multiple ways to give the impression that I “never wore the same thing twice”. I didn’t want my style to be trendy and disposable–I wanted it to be classy and reusable. Sure–I bought trendy/seasonal items that I later donated to the local Salvation Army, but I did not and never have “re-wardrobed” my closet after each season.
I was always taught when you get something new, you donate or give away something else…but that it isn’t always easy for a clothes hoarder like myself *wink* So, I try to invest in really cool wardrobe pieces, and before purchasing, I ask myself, “Can I wear this more than one way? What about three ways?”. And thus…VIP Three Ways to Wear was born *wink*
For a little Throwback Thursday action, check out the VIP’s first Three Ways to Wear posthere from February 2012 *gasp* That was such a long time ago…and man, was my hair long!
Now, without further ado, take a look at this week’s TWTWT to see how I styled the vintage gem fromyesterday’s post.
Yesterday, I introduced y’all to my lovely, vintage kimono, and today, I am going to show y’all TWO MORE WAYS TO WEAR IT! Ah! Perfection.
When I first fell in love with this frock, I asked myself how I could wear it more than one way–I try not to invest in too many solo statement pieces because I like to get a lot of wear out of my clothes…especially the really cool items like this bright-red kimono *wink* So, for this week’s TWTWT, I decided to challenge myself with three ways to wear my snazzy, old-new Kimono from EBV! Y’all take a look at all the fabulousness below *wink*
Basic black eyeliner–it is a makeup necessity, BUT how can you make something so basic so bold? Well, this week on VIP Beauty Tues, I am going to show you how! Come on–let’s take a gander.
Hungry Eyes: *cue Eric Carmen + Dirty Dancing*
This look is all about the eyes…obviously *wink* First, I drew on exaggerated wings with black, liquid eyeliner. Next, I applied a smidgen of foundation to bare lips (no chapstick, primer, etc) to create true-nude lip + added a touch of golden lip gloss for a slight shimmer.
Bold as Love: *cue Jimi Hendrix (my favorite) or John Mayer’s cover*
Lips bold as love *wink* This look demonstrates how a simple pop of color on the lips can take you from basic to bold with ease! My go-to, bold pigment for spring/summer is BRIGHT pink because it is perfect for day or night–what more could a girl want? *wink*
