Woo hoo! It’s Wednesday…finally *wink* That means the work week is half way over. My brain already wants it to be the weekend because I woke up this morning thinking it was Friday. Obviously, I did not have enough coffee yesterday *wink*
Between this beautiful spring weather we are having here in Tennessee + the VIP safari theme this week–I am craving adventure…especially one to South Africa *wink* BUT since visiting South Africa is out of the picture at the moment, I am just going to show y’all this week’s Weekly Whistle + pretend I’m Meryl Streep in Out Of Africa (minus the scene where she battles the lion–that’s just too scary for this chickadee).
Look 1:
I changed up the accessories in this week’s Weekly Whistle to show how something as simple as a different belt can take an ensemble from event-to-event in a snap…or a buckle, if you will *wink*
Yuck. The weather here today has been simply dreary….As a result of the dreary weather, I am currently cooking bacon, mac n’ cheese, and tater tots while typing this blog. Nothing like some good ol’ comfort food to make the rainy-day blues go away *wink*
Speaking of cures for the rainy-day blues…bright colors and mixing patterns is a zero-calorie cure that saves me from having to run extra on the treadmill–everybody needs a cheat day, though! *wink*
For this week’s Weekly Whistle, I am going to show y’all some of ” My Things for Spring” with my favorite outfit of the week! As y’all take a look at the fabulous outfit pictures + details, put on your dancing blues shoes and listen to some Bessie Smith! Ah…Bessie’s voice just makes me want to dance all the way down to New Orleans for a day-cation!
All of the photos on this blog were taken in the historical town of Jonesborough, Tennessee.
Dress It Up:
This look features two of my things for spring–flamingos and florals. Why not pair them together with neon stilettos? Why not! *wink*
This look features one more of “my things for spring”–pink Converse! I had a pair of high-top, pink converse when I was little, and I wore them with EVERYTHING! Will I do that this spring? Maybe…just maybe…*wink*
It is Thursday, once again, and y’all know what that means–it is time for another Three Ways to Wear Thursday!
As promised last week, I have a fabulous TWTWT featuring my three favorite new pairs of gold statement earrings! Each set of earrings on this blog post were handmade by Heather O’Cain of BluKatDesign. Heather makes such a wonderful variety of casual and statement jewelry and that makes BKD a one-stop-shop for fashionistas! After checking out this 3 Ways to Wear gold statement earrings post, head on over to BluKatDesign’s shop here and treat yourself to an early Valentine’s Day gift *wink*
Ah…Thursdays. The glorious day where we anxiously await Friday. One thing that helps the time pass faster is, of course, the VIP’s Three Ways to Wear every Thursday! So, whether you are Working For the Weekend *cue Loverboy* or you are gearing up for a Super Bowl party, this week’s TWTWT is sure to help you stay comfy, cute, and cozy with ease all weekend *wink* Let’s take a look shall we?
Perhaps we need some music to help pass the time until Friday *wink* Where is my Loverboy t-shirt? I think I need to have a jam-session *wink*
Having a template is something I have found to be very useful. When life gets busy, we fashionistas do not have time to spend hours in our closets picking out and planning our outfits everyday….although the idea is tempting *wink* So, just like drafting blueprints for projects, draft “blueprints” or style templates for your day-to-day life. Purchase pieces that can interchange with basic items in your wardrobe, and say bye-bye to hassle and stress. Get basics that fit your style and that can be easily dressed up or down with accessories!
Do not be afraid to mix plaids (like in ways one and two)–just keep the colors similar! If the plaid you desire to wear has touches of reds, blues, grays, and whites….choose one of those colors in which to add another layer of plaid! Oh, also–separate the plaids. For example, you would not want to wear a plaid shirt with a plaid scarf, plaid pants, and plaid boots *wink*
Y’all know how crazy I am for mixing patterns, so I obviously encourage y’all to live on the wild side of fashion every now and again *wink* When it comes to mixing patterns with a simple style template, play with similar hues and then accent with popping patterns. For some easy-to-remember tips about mixing patterns, please see our sister-bloghere!
Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the J.Crew Challenge!
After a two day siesta from outfits, it is good to be back to the styling fun of the J.Crew Challenge. Oh, what do I have in store for y’all today? Hm…that’s a good question! How about y’all take a look while I cram for a Mass Communications exam *wink* I think #CollegeLife is an acceptable hashtag for this *wink*
To create this look, I took the structured tee from Outfit 11 (Attention to Detail) and paired it with simple navy shorts. To pump up the personality (or jam…if you prefer *wink*), I slipped into a sassy pair of dot socks and silver loafers + tossed on one of my favorite handmade necklaces. TAH DAH! A comfy AND cute outfit in a snap. :)
