High Heels, Tool Belts, and Saw Dust

IMG_7812

Hello, fashionistas, and welcome back to the Vintage Inspired Passionista blog! As you all know, for the past couple of weeks, I have had to trade in my snazzy heels for a tool belt as my family and I renovate a 1981 “fixer upper”. It has not been much glimmer and glamour lately on the blog; however, that is all going to change January 2013! Prepare yourselves for more tips, ensembles, DIYs, Accessory Challenges, and much more! What better way to kick off the new year than with fabulous VIP fashion!

It has been quite the adventure as I have learned to rip up carpet, carpet tacks, put down floors, paint with the color yellow (I always laughed at my mom when she said that yellow was hard to paint with…),  pick out backsplash tiles, and tear down walls. By the time all of this house renovation is complete, I am going to need a spa day-a refreshing facial and a relaxing mani/pedi!

A strip of the wallpaper from the "his" side of the master bath. I cannot imagine having wicker wallpaper all over the walls....80s fashion was amazing, but their home décor...not so much haha:)

Reminiscing 2012

Welcome back, fashionistas! Lately, I have been thinking about how far the VIP has come… I started my blog 11 months ago! Wow…it seems like just yesterday I was learning how to blog!

From Vintage Inspired Passionista, I gained the opportunity to write a weekly fashion column for The Real Story newspaper called “The Adventures of the VIP”.  In October, I was featured in Town and Gown Magazine.  I also worked as a stylist for the December and January issues of  Town and Gown Magazine.  I look forward to seeing what other amazing opportunities God has to offer me as I continue my journey!

Now,  let us reminisce with some of my favorite pictures!

Wow...this was February! I got my make up done by these wonderful women at MAC before Birmingham Fashion Week 2012! I had only published two blogs before I was out reporting about fashion shows! Oh, how the time has flown by!

Weekly Whistle: Renovating the VIP’s New Home!

photo 4

Hello, fashionistas! I am so glad you joined me for this week’s Weekly Whistle! For the next few weeks, you will be seeing a side of the VIP you probably did not know existed!  When you think of the VIP, you think lovely high heels, chiffon blouses, and all things vintage; however, my family and I have started a new adventure, and I want to share the journey will all of you:)

My family and I moved to  Alabama just a few days ago (seems like months…considering the lack of sleep…the days and nights are all blending together) to take on a huge home remodeling project! The house screams 1980s…and not in a good way….we knew the house had great potential…and the view and backyard are divine…not to mention how very close to shopping I am :)  I am babbling…but I am so excited to be learning new skills and working together as a family!

The VIP is learning to be a handy dandy home “DIYer” thanks to this renovating experience! No, it is not all glitz and glam like I would like it to be…but once I find my boxes of clothes which are somewhere in the basement (along with everything else) the VIP blog will be back to fabulous fashion and catchy tunes in no time!

You can keep up with the renovation by liking me on Facebook @ www.facebook.com/vintageinspiredpassionista!
