VIP Home: Why Blog About Home?

img_4410

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Since I started the VIP Home segment a little over a year ago, I have received many emails from curious fans asking “why I do it.” It is a good question–a fabulous question, as a matter of fact.

Before blogging was ever even a thought, I was surrounded by all kinds of interior design, re-decorating, renovation, selling, moving, and buying–the whole nine yards. Through all of that, I unconsciously gained a love for adventure and houses of all kinds. For example: I am totally obsessed with little blue houses. If you do not believe me, check out my dream house board on Pinterest here *wink*

The main “life-event” that sparked the idea for “VIP Home” was when my family and I moved to Birmingham, Alabama and tackled a total renovation project. If you are just now joining us on VIP, be sure to take a glance back at some of the reno blogs here. Note: my leg came out unharmed after getting stuck in a wall *wink* We had a lot of laughs over it…so many that my mom took a picture to capture the moment *wink*

VIP Home not only broadens the VIP’s content from just fashion and beauty–because writing about the same thing over-and-over again gets a bit boring after a while *wink*–but writing about home also gives me the opportunity to share cool and fun ideas with y’all. In the famous words of American advertising director William Bernbach, “word of mouth is the best medium of all.”

My dad and I after the “sold” sign went up at our house in the Tutwiler Farms subdivision of Trussville, Alabama.

So, to answer y’all’s question in the simplest way, I do VIP Home because the home has played a huge role in my life–from teaching me how to fix a leaking shower head to total renovation. Although I am no expert, I want to write about and share my home experiences with y’all in a fun way that makes YOU want to put more heart into your home. :)

Pink Home

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the VIP is turning PINK October 6-10! Whoo hoo!
To kick off VIP Pink Week, I would like take a moment to highlight some perfectly pink home decor on this week’s VIP Home! Can you spy the Susan G. Komen decor piece (and no…not the posters)? *wink*
P.S. I am totally fan-girling over that pink sofa! If only I had enough space in my apartment for it…Oh, well, I am cool with the Kate Spade “Eat Cake For Breakfast” mug *wink*
Well, fabulouses, while y’all take a look at the decor details, I am off to study for my Biology lecture and lab midterms tomorrow. *fingers crossed* Surely this venti Starbucks will keep me awake *wink*

VIP Home: Curtain Fest Part 3…On the Right Track

On The Right Track (Curtain Fest)

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the VIP Home!

This week on VIP Home, I am going to chat about the inspiration behind the curtains in my apartment bedroom–which is combined with my “living” area.
For starters, I will preface this blog by saying I would LOVE to share photos of the curtains hanging in my apartment with y’all; however, if I do that…I will ruin all the surprises of future VIP Home posts…and I know none of us want that *wink* Now, let’s chat curtain inspiration.

I have always loved birds–especially brightly colored parrots. I remember begging to go to the zoo just to see the parrots–I remember begging for a pet parrot, too…but that is a story for another day *wink* Also, I have always loved florals–feminine and romantic florals. The house where we filmed La Madame had some of the most breathtaking floral Victorian wallpaper I have ever seen…I immediately fell in love and thought, “My goodness, wouldn’t this print make for beautiful curtains!”

While searching for my dream curtains, I visited a variety of home decor stores–I even visited fabric stores in search of a fabric I could make into my bedroom curtains…*Note: I cannot sew…but I was prepared to watch lots of YouTube tutorials *wink* I was looking high and low for bright and bold curtains, and I needed them to tie the entire space together–I knew this was going to be a challenge…but I had no idea that the challenge would be spread out over a period of weeks. Just as I was losing hope that my curtain vision would never come true, I visited www.WorldMarket.com where I stumbled upon the most fabulously magnificent curtains a girl could ask for–a bold floral pattern with bright turquoise parrots. Oh, these curtains are so totally perfect for my space!  I promise to share photos soon *wink*

Now, readers, I am off to pack up all my luggage to head back to Tennessee tomorrow. Tah tah for now!

Stay Fabulous,

VIP Home: Art Deco Apartment Inspiration

Necklace: BluKat Design by Heather O'Cain
Necklace: BluKat Design by Heather O’Cain

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to VIP Home!

This week on VIP Home, I created a handy dandy Polyvore board of  my fabulous apartment decor ideas. Oh…I do not know what I would do without Polyvore! It makes life so much easier *wink*
Apartment Inspiration: Art Deco
My new apartment was built in 1920, and my desire is to incorporate the 1920s Miami Art Deco style throughout. Finding said decor on a tight budget will be tricky…but I am overly excited about adventuring for items similar to the ones on this Polyvore board. If I am lucky…maybe I can find one of those awesome vintage Felix [cat] clocks! *wink*
