Weekly Whistle: Dreaming of a Safari Adventure

IMG_9687

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Woo hoo! It’s Wednesday…finally *wink* That means the work week is half way over. My brain already wants it to be the weekend because I woke up this morning thinking it was Friday. Obviously, I did not have enough coffee yesterday *wink*

Between this beautiful spring weather we are having here in Tennessee + the VIP safari theme this week–I am craving adventure…especially one to South Africa *wink* BUT since visiting South Africa is out of the picture at the moment, I am just going to show y’all this week’s Weekly Whistle + pretend I’m Meryl Streep in Out Of Africa (minus the scene where she battles the lion–that’s just too scary for this chickadee).

Look 1:

I changed up the accessories in this week’s Weekly Whistle to show how something as simple as a different belt can take an ensemble from event-to-event in a snap…or a buckle, if you will *wink*

Weekly Whistle: A Twist on Katharine Hepburn’s Menswear Style

IMG_9994

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Wednesday! Ah–I did not think this day would ever get here! I have been excitedly awaiting this week’s Weekly Whistle, so that I could finally reveal this super fabulous ensemble!

Katharine Hepburn in Sylvia Scarlett (1935) wearing men’s apparel. P.S. For 1935, I love the risks that were taken in this film! The acting, the plot, some of the scenes–all spot on! Plus…Cary Grant is in it *wink* Oh, Cary…darling *wink*

Inspired by the one-and-only Katharine Hepburn, I took a more modern twist to her awesome menswear style. Rather than pairing suit separates, I put classic black, pin-striped trousers and a blue, vintage-style button up together to create the basic look. To accessorize, I slipped into a pair of red stilettos, used a men’s necktie as a belt, and tossed on a tie necklace by BluKatDesign. This look is perfect for us ladies looking to mimic Katharine the Great’s style + it is great for us ladies looking to up our fashion game at the office *wink*

Weekly Whistle: Guns N’ Roses + Vintage

IMG_8413

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Whoo hoo! It’s Wednesday, which means it is time to reveal this week’s Weekly Whistle outfit! So, let’s jump right in, y’all!

For this week’s OOTW, I paired one of my favorite oversized sweatshirts with a vintage suit-separate skirt I got from my mom. The juxtaposition of casual slouch with business prep creates a funky and comfortable ensemble perfect for running errands and getting work done–in style, of course *wink* For the accessories, I kept it basic with a big, bronzey-gold cuff from Southeastern Salvage. To add a bit of spunk, I finished off this outfit with stately Jessica Simpson wedges.

After you check out this outfit, be sure to check out the other outfit combo ideas at the bottom + a direct picture link to shop the Guns N’ Roses sweatshirt! Ah! The internet is so cool sometimes *wink*

Weekly Whistle: Sock It to Me

IMG_7889

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Two of my favorite mid-fall things to wear here in the South are socks and shorts. When it’s too hot for pants, but too cold for just shorts–I break out my fancy socks and chino shorts to create sassy and fall-inspired ensembles.

So, for this week’s Weekly Whistle, I decided to sock it to y’all…see what I did there *wink* I went a bit simple with the main components (shorts, blouse, shoes) because the socks are so stately. To make this outfit more fall-ish, I stuck to warm hues and dressed up the light-colored blouse with bronze-toned accessories.

Now, let’s take a look at the fabulous photos + outfit details! I bet y’all cannot guess where I picked up these expensive looking socks for a lovely deal *wink*

BLOOPER: The face you make when a squirrel almost falls on your head from the tree limb above you. What a lovely way to start the morning, right? *wink* That very much makes me think about John Caparulo's skit about getting bit by a swan on the way to work. HAHA! Ah! If you have not seen it, check out the video below:
