It is Wednesday…and y’all know what that means *wink* IT IS WEEKLY WHISTLE TIME!
For this week’s Weekly Whistle, I am mixing patterns with my new and STYLISH skirt from Style in downtown Bristol, Tennessee and a striped top from one of my favorite Mississippi boutiques. To add a classic twist to this mixed-pattern look, I decided to embrace a more vintage style by slipping into a pair of black Mary Jane heels, putting on a vintage-inspired hat, and tossing on some pearls (of course *wink*).
Now, without further ado, take a look at this week’s Weekly Whistle + be sure to come back tomorrow to see how to wear this groovy skirt 3 ways *wink*
Long before I became “the VIP”, I was pulling items from my closet and styling pieces multiple ways to give the impression that I “never wore the same thing twice”. I didn’t want my style to be trendy and disposable–I wanted it to be classy and reusable. Sure–I bought trendy/seasonal items that I later donated to the local Salvation Army, but I did not and never have “re-wardrobed” my closet after each season.
I was always taught when you get something new, you donate or give away something else…but that it isn’t always easy for a clothes hoarder like myself *wink* So, I try to invest in really cool wardrobe pieces, and before purchasing, I ask myself, “Can I wear this more than one way? What about three ways?”. And thus…VIP Three Ways to Wear was born *wink*
For a little Throwback Thursday action, check out the VIP’s first Three Ways to Wear posthere from February 2012 *gasp* That was such a long time ago…and man, was my hair long!
Now, without further ado, take a look at this week’s TWTWT to see how I styled the vintage gem fromyesterday’s post.
From my personal style to my home decor, old films play a huge role in my inspirations. Two of my favorite movies, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Pretty in Pink, have played a pivotal role in this week’s theme of “My Things for Spring”. From Marilyn’s powerful pink gown to Molly’s magnificent prom dress–I just cannot get enough of pink! So, to get the best of both worlds, I blended my love of pink + 80s slouchy style to create looks that are fresh, bold, and totally spring *wink*
Another big inspiration for the week of “My Thing for Spring” is Lana Del Rey. I fell in love with her unique sound several years ago, and I fell in love with her vintage-inspired style shortly thereafter. From sweet florals and pastels to subtle slouch and grunge, Lana Del Rey is the true definition of a modern-day style icon. I cannot help but feel inspired when listening to her music or when watching her music videos. She is able to paint a picture not only with her lyrics, but also with her music and style–that is talent…that is inspiring. Check out one of my favorite Lana Del Rey music videos below.
It’s Thursday *girl scream*, which means it is time to reveal this week’s TWTWT!
With spring just around the corner, I cannot help but to embrace bright colors and fun pattern mixing *wink* So, on this week’s TWTWT, I am showcasing three wonderful ways to wear the fabulous flamingo blouse from yesterday’sWeekly Whistle. At first sight, one might say that a neon flamingo blouse can only be worn one way…or limited to jeans or paired only with a solid…but my job today is to show y’all three ways–and believe me, I have more ways–to wear flamingo *wink* Go big, go bold, go bright, and go fresh–that is what we are all about this spring!
Now, without further ado, let’s take a look at this week’s Three Ways to Wear Thursday featuring photos taken in the historic town of Jonesborough, Tennessee.
Way One: Flamingo n’ Floral
Check out the Weekly Whistle for details about this cute, flamingo n’ floral ensemble!
Yuck. The weather here today has been simply dreary….As a result of the dreary weather, I am currently cooking bacon, mac n’ cheese, and tater tots while typing this blog. Nothing like some good ol’ comfort food to make the rainy-day blues go away *wink*
Speaking of cures for the rainy-day blues…bright colors and mixing patterns is a zero-calorie cure that saves me from having to run extra on the treadmill–everybody needs a cheat day, though! *wink*
For this week’s Weekly Whistle, I am going to show y’all some of ” My Things for Spring” with my favorite outfit of the week! As y’all take a look at the fabulous outfit pictures + details, put on your dancing blues shoes and listen to some Bessie Smith! Ah…Bessie’s voice just makes me want to dance all the way down to New Orleans for a day-cation!
All of the photos on this blog were taken in the historical town of Jonesborough, Tennessee.
Dress It Up:
This look features two of my things for spring–flamingos and florals. Why not pair them together with neon stilettos? Why not! *wink*
This look features one more of “my things for spring”–pink Converse! I had a pair of high-top, pink converse when I was little, and I wore them with EVERYTHING! Will I do that this spring? Maybe…just maybe…*wink*
