VIP Home: Transforming a Closet to an Office, Part II “Talk Organization to Me”

IMG_8995

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

The last time we chatted on VIP Home, I told y’all about my transforming a cramped closet into a lovely office space. Today, I am going to be sharing some of the awesome organizational pieces I have incorporated into the design. Yay! Talk organization to me, baby *wink*

When first starting this project, I knew I wanted the space to not only be cute and fabulous, but also organized and functional. So, I called in my artist Mutter for some advice. “You have to create [art] pieces that are visually appealing and functional. Your notes or reminders being pinned to it [the art piece] does not have to take away from the fact the piece is awesome, the notes only add to the quirkiness of the piece. Two easy ways to create functional art is to think about what you need the art to do–which would you use more, a dry erase board or a bulletin board?–and then decide how you can make the functional aspect a beautiful one…whether that be by adding rhinestones and feathers or colorful knobs.” My mutter is a pretty savvy chick *wink*

So, I took her advice and with her help created some pretty amazing pieces that make my office space feel de-cluttered and lovely all at the same time! Let’s take a closer look, shall we?!

A bulletin board upcycled from a cross-stitch ring, vintage fabric, and foam board.

I took this letter holder I got from TJ Maxx and changed it's purpose just a tad by using it to hold my fun stationary. Note: I am so in love with Sincerely Yours by Tracy on Etsy! OMG...she makes the cutest cards and notepads! Take a look here.

I am using a random bamboo drawer organizer to house my 45 records. This is better than trying to stack them with my 33s--it limits the possibility of tearing a cover or even losing a record.
