Weekly Whistle: Mixing Patterns + Classic Style

20150812_163202

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

It is Wednesday…and y’all know what that means *wink* IT IS WEEKLY WHISTLE TIME!

For this week’s Weekly Whistle, I am mixing patterns with my new and STYLISH skirt from Style in downtown Bristol, Tennessee and a striped top from one of my favorite Mississippi boutiques. To add a classic twist to this mixed-pattern look, I decided to embrace a more vintage style by slipping into a pair of black Mary Jane heels, putting on a vintage-inspired hat, and tossing on some pearls (of course *wink*).

Now, without further ado, take a look at this week’s Weekly Whistle + be sure to come back tomorrow to see how to wear this groovy skirt 3 ways *wink*

Three Ways to Wear: Vintage Pink

IMG_9519

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Long before I became “the VIP”, I was pulling items from my closet and styling pieces multiple ways to give the impression that I “never wore the same thing twice”. I didn’t want my style to be trendy and disposable–I wanted it to be classy and reusable. Sure–I bought trendy/seasonal items that I later donated to the local Salvation Army, but I did not and never have “re-wardrobed” my closet after each season.

IMG_9515

I was always taught when you get something new, you donate or give away something else…but that it isn’t always easy for a clothes hoarder like myself *wink* So, I try to invest in really cool wardrobe pieces, and before purchasing, I ask myself, “Can I wear this more than one way? What about three ways?”. And thus…VIP Three Ways to Wear was born *wink*

For a little Throwback Thursday action, check out the VIP’s first Three Ways to Wear post here from February 2012 *gasp* That was such a long time ago…and man, was my hair long!

Now, without further ado, take a look at this week’s TWTWT to see how I styled the vintage gem from yesterday’s post.

Three Ways to Wear Thursday: Golden Skirt from Serendipity Boutique

IMG_8843

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Before I dive deep into this week’s Three Ways to Wear, I must say that it is absolutely freezing here, and this Mississippi-raised girl does not know how to handle it! My mom and I were huddling around the oven (yes, really–the oven) and eating pizza while my dad was posting pictures to Instagram of the beach sunset in Florida. It’s not fair. I want a warm vacay *wink*

Now, back on topic. For this week’s Three Ways to Wear Thursday, I am featuring a fabulous skirt from one of my favorite local shops here in Johnson City, Tennessee–Serendipity Boutique. This gold skirt is so simple, which makes dressing it up, down, and everywhere in between a piece of cake or easy as pie. You know…whichever you prefer–cake or pie? *wink* Personally…I am a pecan pie kind of gal.

If you live in or are visiting the Johnson City TN/Bristol TN/VA area, be sure to stop by one of Serendipity’s two locations! Their wide variety of lovely fashions are sure to tickle your fancy! :)

WAY ONE:

I first featured this awesome skirt on the sister blog S&S. Click here for more photos + outfit details.

To celebrate the 200th VIP blog post, I would like to share with y’all the awesome artistic photos my photographer took on one of the many rainy days we have had here in Alabama. Thankfully, no cameras were harmed in the taking of these photographs. Enjoy the art!

“Songs About Rain”

by Gary Allen

Well, this town has closed down way too early,
And there’s nothin’ to do.
So I’m drivin,’ around in circles, and I’m thinkin’ about you.
Today, I heard you got a new last name,
Sure didn’t know it was gonna’ hit me this way,
And the radio just keeps playin’ all these songs about rain.

Now there’s all kinda’ songs about babies and love that goes right,
But for some unknown reason, nobody wants to play them tonight,
Hey, I hope it’s sunny wherever you are,
But that’s sure not the picture tonight in my car,
And it sure ain’t easin’ my pain, all these songs like,

Rainy Night in Georgia, Kentucky Rain.
Here comes that rainy day feelin’ again,
Blue eyes cryin’ in the early mornin’ rain,
They go on and on, and there’s no two the same.
Oh, it would be easy to blame all these songs about rain.

Well, I thought I was over you ,
But I guess maybe I’m not.
‘Cause when I let you go looks like lonely is all that I got,
Guess I’ll never know what could have been,
Sure ain’t helpin’ this mood that I’m in,
If they’re gonna keep on playin’ these songs like,

Rainy Night in Georgia, Kentucky Rain,
Here comes that rainy day feelin’ again,
Blue eyes cryin’ in the early mornin’ rain,
They go on and on,
There’s no two the same,
Oh, how I wish I could blame all these songs about rain

Rainy Night in Georgia, Kentucky Rain,
Here comes that rainy day feelin’ again,
Blue eyes cryin’ in the early mornin’ rain,
They go on and on,
There’s no two the same

Rainy Night in Georgia, Kentucky Rain,
Here comes that rainy day feelin’ again,
Blue eyes cryin’ in the early mornin’ rain,
They go on and on,
There’s no two the same.
