Weekly Whistle: Little Leopard Dress featuring Monkee’s of Johnson City

IMG_3154

Ya know…there is just something about leopard that makes a fashionista feel fabulous and fearless. It stands out in a crowd, it pairs elegantly with pops of color, and it can be a real wild card when combined with other patterns. (See this week’s #VIPMixItMonday on Instagram.)

I found this lovely, little leopard dress at Monkee’s of Johnson City while on a local shopping adventure, and needless to say, I fell head-over-heels for its wear-ability and versatility. So, for this week’s Weekly Whistle, I am sporting it with a sweet lace under-dress, handmade accessories, and my favorite handbag of ALL TIME *wink*

Weekly Whistle: Summer Fun with R. Tabb & Co

IMG_2571

On my recent trip back to the home-state, I stopped by one of my favorite boutiques in Starkville, Mississippi–R. Tabb & Co.. When I was living in Mississippi several years ago, I did a Town & Gown Magazine event at R. Tabb where I first fell in love with the clothing store. I totally stalked my own blog to find the photo below of Rebecca Tabb and I three years ago. Goodness gracious–hard to believe it was that long ago! Time flies when you’re having fun! How cliche am I *wink*

Everything She Touches Turns to Gold | Vintage Sequin Dress

IMG_1166

One of my resolutions for 2016 is to get back to my blog roots by buying and wearing more vintage, and while on a recent photo shoot with my dear friend Andrew of Snapshot Avenue, I found this AH-MAZING vintage gem at Jonesborough Antiques & Artisans.  This 1980s, gold, sequined jacket/dress is an absolute power-piece, and I am tempted to slap the VIP logo on the back and wear it all of the time *wink* Oh. My. Goodness. I love sparkle…and especially vintage sparkles *wink*

This stately frock is so gold that it reminds me of one of my favorite James Bond movies, Goldfinger! Now, as you take a gander at this week’s fabulous Weekly Whistle, listen to this killer Shirley Bassey Bond theme song and get inspired to wear more gold, vintage and sequins*wink*

Three Ways to Wear: Vintage Pink

IMG_9519

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Long before I became “the VIP”, I was pulling items from my closet and styling pieces multiple ways to give the impression that I “never wore the same thing twice”. I didn’t want my style to be trendy and disposable–I wanted it to be classy and reusable. Sure–I bought trendy/seasonal items that I later donated to the local Salvation Army, but I did not and never have “re-wardrobed” my closet after each season.

IMG_9515

I was always taught when you get something new, you donate or give away something else…but that it isn’t always easy for a clothes hoarder like myself *wink* So, I try to invest in really cool wardrobe pieces, and before purchasing, I ask myself, “Can I wear this more than one way? What about three ways?”. And thus…VIP Three Ways to Wear was born *wink*

For a little Throwback Thursday action, check out the VIP’s first Three Ways to Wear post here from February 2012 *gasp* That was such a long time ago…and man, was my hair long!

Now, without further ado, take a look at this week’s TWTWT to see how I styled the vintage gem from yesterday’s post.

Weekly Whistle: Same Accessories, Same Style, Different Look

header

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Happy Wednesday, y’all! Ah…the weekend is half-way here–we got this *wink* I have an oil change for Leo + a photo shoot in Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia to look forward to…probably some gluten-free Mellow Mushroom too *wink*

I am always saying how accessories make all the difference, but I am sure deep down inside one of you asks do they–do they really, Abby? *wink* Well, today (and tomorrow on TWTWT) I am going to show y’all how the same accessories can transform the same style into a totally different look in a SNAP! With my life being crazy busy now, I have learned the true power of “accessories make all the difference”–especially if I wake up late or forget an appointment. :)
Last week's Weekly Whistle is what I wore to host a #BelkScene event. It featured some fabulously handmade accessories that I decided to take from "prom inspired" to "whenever/wherever inspired". Take a look at the whenever/wherever look below!
