InStyle Inspiration: June 2012

I spy InStyle Inspiration: June 2012

Hello, my FABULOUS readers! I have two super cute outfits that I based off of things that inspired me from the latest edition of InStyle, and I am so excited to share them with y’all.

One of the pages that inspired me this month…

The detail and color of the blue dress shown in the picture above reminded me of a dress that I had stuffed in the back of my closet…I decided that it must be brought out and combined with a summery, straw hat and fun, white Jessica Simpson heels! I cannot wait to wear this outfit out on the town!

Hat: Blu Gertude (Deep South Pout of Columbus, MS)
Dress: Fashion Barn (Columbus, Mississippi)
Shoes: Jessica Simpson (Belk)
Sunglasses: Target (Trussville, Alabama)
I love magazines like InStyle and Vogue because they get my mind going about how to create my own “Inspiration Outfits” with things I already have, Thrift Store Finds, or new purchases from local shops.

I took inspiration (yes, this blog post has the word “inspiration” in it a lot…because I am the Vintage INSPIRED Passionista…haha;)) from Instyle magazine’s “Summer Steals!” and “Mens-Wear Hat” pages.

Hat: Charming Charlie (Birmingham, Alabama)
Dress: Deep South Pout (Starkville, Mississippi)
Shoes: Jessica Simpson (Of course…;))
This summer, I am all about hats! Cute, floppy hats with my bikini and coverup, a mens-wear hat with a funky dress, or a bright, fun straw hat with a colorful dress..The VIP loves hats….

Don’t you just love InStyle Magazine??? Oh, I do…I love it almost as much as I love Jessica Simpson shoes…

Go pick up the next issue of InStyle magazine, and find ideas to make your own spectacular outfits! If you have an outfit inspired by magazines that you would like to share…give me a shout out! I would love to feature them in an upcoming blog! So don’t be shy! Get to emailing me your inspiration outfit pictures:)

Thrift Store Finds

"VENI VIDI VICI" (in thrift store language that's "I SAW IT, I BOUGHT IT, I'M WEARING IT LIKE A SUPERMODEL"

Are you guilty of buying something from a thrift store then getting it home and not knowing what to do with it? So you stick it in the back of your closet with all of those Christmas sweaters your grandmother made you… Go get out those thrift store finds and be prepared to be amazed with what kind of wardrobe you can create for yourself! Vintage inspired here we come!

Amberle Rogers, V.I.P. guest model, wearing an Urban Outfitters sweater, Jessica Simpson shoes, and THRIFT STORE FIND skirt.

Thrift stores, consignment shops, and vintage stores are great places to find unique things that you may not find anywhere else nowadays. If you’re a newbie to all of this, don’t worry! I will explain to you in a future blog how to go about purchasing the perfect second-hand outfit with just a little bit of cash! In the meantime…you are just going to have to trust me when I say they are great places to uncover newfangled treasures!

The skirt was found at the Salvation Army in Starkville, Mississippi. I chose this skirt because of its magnificent navy blue color, and its great vintage lines!

On my latest escapade (Come on baby let’s get away, let’s save your troubles for another day…Es-ca-pade, We’ll have a good time. Es-ca-pade, leave your worries behind, Es-ca-pade…that’s all the words I know to that Janet Jackson song…anyway…) to the Salvation Army I saw…this glorious sign…that read…BAG SALE: all you can fit, $7.00. At that exact moment, I honestly thought I was going to get “weak knees” and fall to the ground because I was so steeped with excitement. This girl knows how to pack stuff!

Amberle Rogers wearing her own jeans, Urban Outfitters shoes, Anthropologie shirt (from many years ago), and THRIFT STORE FIND cardigan.
love the colors and the patterns of this sweater.

These pictures were taken out and about in rural Mississippi. Some of my favorite places to take pictures are at old barns, decaying houses, and winding dirt roads. My dad being involved with photography inspired me to get a fancy smancy camera and try it out for myself! Now, I am voracious about the artistic stand point behind photography!

V.I.P. guest model wearing a Chicago Symphony sweatshirt discovered at the Salvation Army. The shorts are my own creation...made from old jeans and added patches cut out of fabric from the 70s.
Amberle (on left) wearing a Michigan sweatshirt found at the Salvation Army and her own jeans. Abby Hat...aka me... (on right) wearing a found sweatshirt from the same Salvation Army. In a future DIY blog, I will let you in on my secrets to creating "roughed up, rock 'n' roll" sweatshirts!

The following photos are some of my favorites from the Thrift Store Finds photoshoot with Amberle Rogers! I just had to share them with all of you because Amberle and I had such a great time taking all these pictures! Tune in next time for my blog about the Birmingham Fashion Week 2012 (BFW) that I will be attending Thursday, February 9! Can’t wait to share my experience with you all!
