VIP Scrapbook: Visiting the HOMEtown

image

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

For the past week, I have been visiting friends and family in my hometown of Louisville, Mississippi where I got a mani/pedi with a fabulous friend, finished filming the indie film, visited some old cheer buddies at their senior prom, chopped four inches off my hair, visited my great aunts, learned more about my family history, and last but not least…attended the grand opening of the new Dollar Tree–this is big news for Louisville *wink*

Now, I know I have been slacking on the social media lately…Please forgive me, VIP fans. I am so spoiled to high-speed Internet and 4G (even 3G) cell signal that adjusting to limited service has been very…frustrating. I will spare y’all the dramatic story of my breakdown prior to posting this blog via my Samsung Galaxy Note3. Long story short, the HughesNet Internet and I had a fight and…the HughesNet Internet won *wink*

To make up for my social media slacking, I decided that today I would post a VIP Scrapbook of all the fun and fabulous things I have been doing lately in and around my hometown. Now, without further ado, I present to you the VIP Scrapbook: Visiting the HOMEtown. Yay!

My friend Erin Clark and I getting our toesys done at the V.I.P. Nails salon in Louisville. I thought it was a fitting place for the VIP to get her nails done *wink*

My sad face selfie on the last day of filming La Madame…Now, I cannot wait for the movie premiere! Ahh!

Rachel Edmonds of Mia Salon in Starkville, Mississippi cut four inches off the VIP’s hair. I have been growing it out for the movie since November…and it feels fabulous to have the Cob (curly bob) back *wink* Thanks so much, Rachel!

It was so fun “crashing” prom to see two of my old cheerleader buddies! The two gingers and a blonde reunite after three years *wink*

It was so awesome looking through old family photos with my great Aunt Judy. Hearing her stories of the past is so amazing and inspires me to learn more about my family. Right now, my big goal is to learn more about the history of my middle name, Rianza. Stay tuned for a future blog…once I get more information:)

*drum roll* Today, I attended the grand opening of the Louisville Dollar Tree. I will let the pictures of my shopping adventure tell the story *wink*

image

Easter arts and crafts–my favorite! I bought one of the items shown in this photo…can you guess which one???

image

As soon as I saw this jumbo chalk…I went from 18 to 5 in a matter of seconds *wink* I call this my “Oh my gosh, Mom, it’s jumbo chalk! Can I please have some” face.

image

I am a huge fan of the clear glass coffee mugs in this photo. I think I will be making a trip back to the Louisville Dollar Tree before I leave to pick up some cute coffee cups for my new apartment…oh, and I will also be getting some jumbo chalk *wink*

image

I got these FAB-U-LOUS cups for my apartment TODAY.  They were so cute…I could not pass them up!

image

Last but not least…I picked up one of these snazzy snack packs for my travels. You are never too old to snack happy and adorable *wink*

Now, I am off to watch The Blacklist on NBC.  I may not have great Internet connection, but thank goodness I have satellite TV *wink*

The VIP’s New Do with Rachel Edmonds

If you live around the Starkville, MS area and are looking for a fantastic hair cut and color…then Rachel Edmonds is your girl!

Last week I got a bit of a hair makeover by the lovely Rachel Edmonds of Mia Salon in Starkville, Mississippi. It was a slight dramatic change…Rachel cut 5 inches off of my curly locks…I was a bit nervous, but the end result was super fabulous…I feel all bouncy and pouncy :)

I  had to share my ‘do makeover with all of my lovely readers.  I knew that it might be a shocker to see me in future blogs with much shorter hair without a background stroy!

The above picture was taken by my mom…bless her and her type 1 diabetes!  We had to hurry straight to lunch so she could eat before her “sugar” crashed…so my hair is still damp…but even a bit damp…it looks fantastic!  Thanks to a wonderful cut and color!

Fall Hair Tips by Rachel Edmonds:

  • After summer, hair is dry from all the summer sun…So, definitely moisturize and trim those ends.
  • Go with a caramel or beige color, if you are a blonde, and a warm, rich brown color, if you are a brunette.
  • Cute headbands and messy buns are stylish for fall!

Aren’t those tips great! And..isn’t Rachel just VIP fabulous!  Thanks, Rachel, you are a doll!

Join me next time for a spectacular blog about a fantastic new shop I ran across while antiquing and picking with my mom in Springville, Alabama! You will not want to miss this humdinger of a blog, I promise:)

Sweater Happy DIY and a Little Shoutout!

Right now is the perfect time to head to your local thrift store or go shopping in your own closet for sweaters that need a little love…this easy, peasy, sweater, cheesy DIY will show how to convert an old winter sweater into an adorable vest with vintage flare!

What you will need:

  • A winter sweater
  • scissors
  • vintage buttons
  • needle
  • thread
Step1: Find vintage buttons the same size as on the original sweater. Remove the original buttons and sew on the vintage buttons to give your sweater a little VIP touch!

Step 2: Now that the buttons are sewed on, it’s time to cut off the sleeves! Measure one inch away from the seams of each sleeve. Cut off both sleeves…tah dahhh! Done!

I am so excited to show you two ways I decided to wear my sweater happy DIY!

Dress: Sweater Happy DIY
Under shirt: Forever 21
Belt: Target
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Bracelet: Deep South Pout
Necklace: BluKat Design
I purchased this oversized sweater at the Raspberry Beret Consignment Shop (Louisville, Mississippi)…from the one dollar rack…as soon as I saw it…I knew it had the potential to be a fabulous DIY!
Earrings: Blu Gertrude
Sweater: Sweater happy DIY
tank top: Forever 21
Belt: Deep South Pout
Shorts: The Attic
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
I just had to pair this oversized sweater with these vintage baby blue shorts! This outfit gives the VIP a put together look that is comfortable and adorable!

My hair is one of my signatures…so keeping my blonde, curly locks healthy during the summer is an absolute must! I want to give a special shoutout to Rachel Edmonds of Mia Salon in Starkville, Mississippi for getting my hair ready for summer!

I want to share with y’all a few things I found out about Rachel who is so precious and darling!

  • Tell us a little something about yourself.

I am 27 years old and have been a cosmetologist for 8 years. I live and work in Starkville, Mississippi at Mia Salon. I love my job, and enjoy making others feel better about themselves.

  • How would you describe your style?

I would describe my style as casual to dressy.. I love to accessorize with lots of jewelry and a cute pair of shoes! Clothes and jewelry are definitely a weakness of mine!

  • Where are some of your favorite places to shop?

Some of my favorite places to shop are definitely boutiques! One of my favorites is Deep South Pout!

  • What is your favorite genre of music and why?

Some of my favorite genres of music are probably pop and country. I love anything that puts me in a good mood. Dave Matthews is one of my favorites!

  • What are some easy summer hair care tips?

Hair care tips for the summer: Moisturize your locks! The heat and sun dry your hair out, and it is good to do a good moisturizing treatment once a week! Also, keep hair trimmed to avoid split ends and breakage.

Stay tuned next time for a fantabulous Deep South Pout Accessories Challenge:)

In an upcoming blog, I will be sharing with you all the vintage treasures that a friend of mine sent to me from Ten Dollar Vintage which is quite the catch when it comes to parcels of adorable outfits for vintage lovers! Make sure to stay tuned to find out more:)
