VIP Home: Transforming a Closet to an Office, Part 1

IMG_9008

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

This January, I am kicking off a month-long home series of my Closet-to-Office transformation! I am going to talk about each aspect–the inspiration + color, organization + Pinterest ideas, and a full reveal! So, be sure to come back each Monday to see a little bit more of the transformation *wink*

Now, for this week’s VIP Home post, I am going to chat about the color + inspiration behind going pink with my closet-now-office space :)

For starters, I never had a pink room growing up because I was a huge tomboy and was “too cool” for a pink room *wink* Now, a feminine fashionista, I decided it was time for a pink room…but not my bedroom…nor my kitchen (although I thought about it *wink*)…and not my closet. So, that only left my kwirky office space.

One reason I think pink is such a fitting color for my office/blogging headquarters is because pink is universal for the love of oneself and of others. How fitting for a space where I want to sit down and write to spread positivity while expressing myself! Pink is also synonymously associated with the words sweet, nice, playful, cute, charming, and feminine.

I knew I needed a place to blog, but my apartment is a bit cramped. So, I did what my Gran did in one of her spare bedrooms and converted the closet into an office with “technical” help from my dad, of course *wink* I mentioned the organizing of my closet on a blog several months ago; however, things have changed since then…Like I learned wire shelves were financially a great idea…but not functionally a great idea haha So, I have changed some shelving, added DIY organization (which will be featured later), and other knick knacks.

After much rearranging, redoing, and probably a few tears *wink*, my office space is finally starting to feel like a real office space:) *sigh of relief*

Now, I am off to put the finishing touches on a DIY tack board. Be sure to come back next week to see the beginnings of my closet-to-office space!

Hello, fabulouses, and welcome back to the blog!

Guess what?! I am typing this blog from my new office space–which is a typical closet that I converted into a bright and cheery work space. This project was quite easy–all it took was a little money and design planning.

With the help of my dad, I just finished installing the basic counter top (turned desk top) from Home Depot about an hour ago. Oh…I am so happy to finally have a little blogging space in my apartment. Ah…apartment sweet apartment *wink*

The office is fully functioning–minus a desk chair (I have my eye on a fabulous one at Stein Mart); however, I have yet to adorn the space with cute decor. Note to self: Style office space and share with VIP readers *wink*

The dad and I installing the wire shelving in the blogging space. (Please excuse the fact I am wearing clothes that are wayyy to big for me...I look a bit frumpy...well, more like a lot frumpy. *cringe*)

After battling the rain and the cold…I finally had a pretty day to finish the front door. Yay! I am absolutely in love with the finished product of this paint project! The Peacock Feather by Behr (Home Depot’s paint department is fabulous!) really adds a pop of needed personality to the neutral space.

My next outside paint project is deciding what color to paint the porch floor. Decisions...decisions...decisions...
Now, I have to decide what color to paint the porch floor. Decisions…decisions…decisions…Stay tuned to the VIP social media and VIP Home to find out what color I picked.

Although I am making progress, I am still living in chaos, which can be bit frustrating at times.

I am really not giving the chaos enough credit because it is teaching me how to be more responsible with managing a budget…how to work under pressure (which I am not very good at doing *wink*)…and how to make my own “big girl” decisions. Phew…I am all about learning new life lessons, but I am extremely ready to tidy things up and keep them that way :)
