Hello, fashionistas! Welcome to the Vintage Inspired Passionista blog on this blustery day in good ole’ Alabama! Today, I bring to you the VIP’s coverage of Birmingham Fashion Week’s Friday Night Runway [March 1] show! Oh, the event was ever so spectacular! After leaving, I went home and made a list of what fashions I was going to NEED in my spring wardrobe! You cannot get much better than Southern style!
The Friday night runway featured local boutiques Soca clothing and Theadora. Their collections made everyone ready for the warmer weather! The Annie Griffin collection fit the VIP’s style for sure! The garments were composed of lots of retro vibes, patterns, and colors! Just talking about it makes me ready for a superb shopping spree! So, VIP readers, let’s take a giant gander at what the Friday BFW runway show was all about! Come on, let’s go!

Of course you do…but, you will have to wait until next time! So, fashionistas, contain your excitement until the next blog…It is going to be so…VERY AWESOME!
Hello, fantastic fashionistas! The VIP has been quite busy covering Birmingham Fashion Week events and working on new blog/newspaper articles. Phew! I think I need another Starbucks run!
Last night’s [February 27] event was the first annual BFW Lifestyle (Mind, Body, and Soul) runway show. The event featured three07, State Traditions, the Pants Store, Pure Barre (presenting Karma wear), Faith Skate Supply, and Luluemon Athletica Summit. Without further ado, I present to you the view of the BFW Lifestyle (Mind, Body, and Soul) runway show through the lens of a photographer.
Regarded as one of Birmingham’s top photographers, Zack Carpenter brings the world of photography and innovation together, to achieve high quality imagery, at low quality cost.
Zack Carpenter is an accomplished photographer from Trussville, Alabama. One of his fondest memories being him taking his mother’s medium format camera and shooting shots of whatever was in front of him. Interestingly enough, not much has changed except, the technology.
With specialties in High Fashion and General Portraiture, his works are often described as “dynamic” because of his innovative use of lighting in portraiture, “esoteric” because of his uncommon techniques that make his photos truly one of a kind, and “fascinating” because of his ability to capture true emotion.
Zack’s true success came after he shot Birmingham Fashion Week in February 2012. Just days after the event, designers took notice of his images and began requesting them. Zack has had requests from fashion celebrities Lauren Leonard of the Leona collection, former Project Runway contestant Christopher Collins, and Gerard Maione (co-owner of What Goes Around Comes Around, which is one of the world’s top vendors of vintage Chanel items).
His most recent project was with designer to the stars, Heidi (Standridge) Elnora, who appeared on season two of Project Runway. His incredible images are in Alabama Wedding, About Town, and B-Metro magazines.
Zack believes that anyone can take pretty pictures, but it takes a true photographer to create and capture a lasting memory.
Hello, hello, hello, my lovely fashionistas! Welcome back to the VIP blog on this wonderful day! In Alabama, the weather is sunny and 65 degrees-ahh….makes me ready for spring break…ooo! and spring fashion! But, I am not here to talk about how desperate I am for a full week of sunny, warm weather! So, let’s get started with what ensemble the VIP created this week by shopping in her own closet….
As I was rumbling through the boxes of clothes I have yet to unpack from the move, I stumbled upon a forgotten treasure…my vintage polka-dot skirt! This glorious moment spawned the idea of a “dot-on-dot ensemble”…but what accessories? Hot pink, of course! The VIP simply adores polka dots and hot pink!
